Wherever there is conspiracy, there is human interest. There is something about pseudo reality that gets to us. Maybe because it is out of the ordinary or more mysterious. But the enigma of a conspiracy theory presenting numerous possible scenarios can really hook people onto it. The world is too large to not have secrets and it is too huge to not have conspiracies. Over the years, many theories have come to life that baffled the best of us.
Here are 10 such conspiracy theories that will really make you question the world we live in:
1. The moon landing- Real or fake?
It was said to be a desperate step to beat the Russians. The first man in Space was Russian, Yuri Gagarin. America did not want to lose the race when it came to reaching the moon. But many believe that the technology required to pull off a landing was not available in 1969 so they staged a fake one.
The controversial pictures.
The photos show too many sources of light which is not possible on the moon’s surface. There are no stars visible in any photograph. And during the Apollo 12 mission, there are unexplained things seen in the viser’s reflection of an astronaut’s helmet. All this just made people believe that it was a movie set created for clicking fake photos.
The waving flag without any air?
It is a known fact that there is no air in the moon’s atmosphere. However, a photo of the flag planted by Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin is shown fluttering. Without any wind blowing, that just can’t happen.
2. Was AIDS actually manufactured by the US?
Rumours have persisted since the AIDS epidemic spread in 1981 that the CIA was responsible for the virus’ outbreak to wipe out homosexuals and African Americans. South African President Thabo Mbeki refuted claims that the virus originated in Africa and accused the U.S. government of manufacturing the disease in military labs. Many insist that the US government injected gay men with the virus during the 1978 hepatitis-B experiments in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
3. Does the Illuminati still exist?
Illuminati (also dubbed as the The New World Order) was the name given to those who started the ‘enlightenment era’ under the banner of a secret society. These societies said to have challenged the Catholic Church’s theories of superstition and it also condemned religious influence over the public. Just like Freemasons, they also built clues into various objects for those who chose to follow the path of enlightenment & to make their presence felt. But are they still among us?
What about celebrity deaths like MJ and Tupac?
Many say that it was the Illuminati who had a hand in Michael Jackson’s death because he was against them. His doctor was supposedly working for them. Apparently, a few days before his death, MJ had said, “They are going to kill me”. Rapper Tupac Shakur aka 2pac, who fell victim to a drive-by shooting, was also said to be anti-illuminati.

The Illuminati are alleged to be the primary forces driving global governance, a one-world religion and even centralized control of the world’s economic systems. Organizations like the UN, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and International Criminal Court are seen as part of Illuminati. Even the Bible has certain ‘end times prophecies’ which suggest things like one world government, a one world monetary system and a one world religion, all of which are the motives of the Illuminati.
4. The 9/11 World Trade Center attack.
It is a popular theory that the attack was planned by the Bush administration, even though Al- Qaeda took responsibility. It is said that this was done to justify the attacks on Afghanistan & Iraq that the US would conduct later.
Was the plane even a passenger flight?
The structure had a steel facade, reinforced concrete flooring and 47 steel support beams. A regular passenger plane could not slice through it so easily. People claim that the plane did not look like one either. There were no windows on the side, plus the logo was not an American Airlines’ logo. Many say it was a drone, which was in fact fitted with a missile which shot seconds before the plane hit the building.
Were there explosives placed inside the building?
The way the building collapsed, in an inward motion only suggested that it was a controlled demolition. Had it been a normal collapse, the building would’ve fallen sideways. But it crumbled where it stood. And people actually claimed hearing a succession of explosions during its collapse.

What happened to the plane at the Pentagon?
The hole that was left in the building was too small for a Boeing 757 to make. And if it did, it means only the front end of the plane crashed into the building. The main fuselage actually never penetrated the structure. But surprisingly, there was no sign of debris or remains of the aircraft found near the Pentagon.
5. The death of Princess Diana was not an accident?
On 31st August, 1997, her car entered the Pont de l’Alma road tunnel in Paris but never made it out. She was part of a fatal car crash that killed her, her companion Dodi Fayed, the driver and also the acting security manager of Hotel Ritz. Her bodyguard was the lone survivor of the crash. Questions were raised like why was Diana looking back? Were the paparazzi responsible?
What about the white Fiat and James Andanson?
The white car is said to have glanced Diana’s Mercedes upon entry into the tunnel. The owner of the car was found dead in a burnt-out BMW in a forest. It was said to be suicide. Dodi’s father claimed that the car was used by MI6 to divert the Princess’ car to crash into the tunnel walls.
Was Diana pregnant?
It’s believed that the fact that she was dating a non-Christian and possibly bore his child seemed intolerable to the British Royal Family. It was claimed by many that her own family was involved in the killing.
Absence of CCTV footage.
There is considerable lack of CCTV images that show the car’s journey from the hotel to the crash site. It is said that there were approximately 10 video cameras on the route taken by Diana’s car, including one on the tunnel’s entrance. In December 2006, The Independent published an article saying that there were more than 14 CCTV cameras in the Pont de l’Alma underpass. No footage of the fatal crash was ever recovered.
6. John F Kennedy assassination- A huge cover up?
November 22nd, 1963: The motorcade carrying president John F Kennedy took a turn towards the Dealey Plaza. In the next few minutes, JFK was assassinated with a fatal shot to the head, apparently fired from the Texas School Books Depository. But who planned the shooting?
Why was his alleged killer shot within two days?
When the alleged shooter Lee Harvey Oswald was captured, he said he was being framed and that he hadn’t shot anybody. Less than 48 hours later, he was shot by Jack Ruby when he was being transported to county jail. Ruby himself died in jail of lung cancer before his second trial could begin. But did Ruby kill Oswald as part of a cover up?
The advantage to the vice president.
There is a theory that Lyndon Johnson, whose car was right behind Kennedy’s actually ducked as the motorcade turned towards the Texas School Books Depository. Everyone in the car was sitting up. Did he know already? Johnson was sworn in as president the same day.
The investigation was kept under wraps by the government.
The Warren Commission held all investigations in complete secrecy. That opened the door to more controversies since a lot was not revealed to the public. It is said that many witnesses mysteriously disappeared as well.
7. Was Shakespeare a fake?
Mark Twain had once said: “So far as anybody actually knows and can prove, Shakespeare of Stratford-on-Avon never wrote a play in his life.” Since there is very little known about the playwright, many theories cropped up claiming that he never wrote those plays.
Were there various authors involved?
Two authors in mid 19th century, namely Joseph Hart and Delia Bacon wrote that there were a group of writers who were overseen by Sir Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh and they wrote plays for Shakespeare.
Who was Edward de Vere?
The movie Anonymous has put forth the story of Edward. Few believe there are references in the plays to de Vere’s life and also, there’s a series of codes in the writing style that depict Edward as the author.
What about the man who was proclaimed to be dead?
Christopher Marlowe wrote around the same time as Shakespeare did. It is said that Marlowe’s death, allegedly in a bar brawl, was actually a cover up to protect the playwright, who was an atheist, from being jailed. Shakespeare was supposedly just the name and face given to plays.
8. Did a UFO really crash at Roswell?
The UFO crash site at Roswell, New Mexico has always been somewhat of a question mark. Some people claim to have seen a flying disc crashing into the ground. But was it really an Unidentified Flying Object?

Area 51 has been cordoned off to the general public. The prohibition to enter the area has made people believe that there are secret government labs conducting experiments on aliens and other unexplained entities behind those barbed fences.

Conspiracy theorists believe that the holocaust was not really something that the Nazis planned. They say that Jews died in concentration camps due to starvation and disease and not because of any Nazi reform or policy. It is said that the Jews gave heed to the story just to justify the creation of Israel. Conspiracy theorists also say that the diary of Anne Frank is forged.
10. Do vaccines cause autism?
Celebrities like Jenny McCarthy & certain others have voiced their opinion on the matter, saying that certain vaccinations can cause autism. Jenny McCarthy claimed that her son contracted autism because of these vaccinations. As much as this is refuted, the theory has gained a lot of popularity over the years.
